Julia's aromatic basmati rice

I got this from The Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook by Beth Hensperger and Julie Kaufmann. It is very good. It made the whole house smell wonderful.

1 rice cooker cup basmati rice
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 tsp. salt
One 4 inch stick cinnamon
3 green cardamom pods

Place the rice in a fine strainer or bowl, rinse with cold water, and drain.

Place the rice, water , salt and spices in the rice cooker bowl;swirl to combine. Close the cover and set for the regular cycle. (on mine that is about 45 min.)

When the machine switches to the keep warm cycle, let the rice steam for 15 min.

Fluff the rice with wooden or plastic rice paddle or wooden spoon. This rice will hold on Keep Warm for 3-4 hours.

Enjoy, I will serve with chicken and cooked veggies.
