Dairy in all forms is a likely trigger food. Because yogurt is fermented it has less lactose, or milk sugar, than many other forms of dairy. The problem is that lactose is just one of the troublesome elements in dairy when it comes to your gut. The fat, casein, and whey can also cause problems.

It's not possible to get dairy that is lactose free, fat free, casein free, and whey free, as that would eliminate the carbohydrate, fat, and proteins from the dairy. There wouldn't be much of anything left.

In other words, just about every thing in a dairy product is likely to upset your gut and trigger IBS symptoms. Stick to non-dairy yogurts, non-dairy fermented foods, and consider even lactose free dairy products to be likely IBS triggers.
