"Are Lara Bars safe to eat for IBS?"

MMMmmmm.....probably not. They're definitely going to be a "caution" food, as they will have a lot of insoluble fiber (nuts, seeds, skin on dried fruits), concentrated fructose (a FODMAP and a poorly digested sugar, from the dried fruit) and possibly too much fat (nuts, seeds).

They are certainly nutritious but the high insoluble fiber and fat, both of which are powerful GI stimulants, could cause spasms, cramps, diarrhea, bloating, etc. There is not really any soluble fiber source in most of the bars, and soluble fiber is the only thing that will keep bowel motility stable, and thus prevent IBS symptoms.

I'd treat these bars as a splurge. Have one for dessert, after a safe high soluble fiber, low fat meal.
