I have Kaiser which probably already explains why I have to do much of my own research. I think I have IBS-C which just recently turned into IBS-A, probably based on the massive supplements my integrative doc has me on (I just paid cash to see someone outside Kaiser.) She's good but so busy, I don't feel she has time to really look at the big picture. Anyhow, I'm working with her to get genetic testing done and try two elimination diets. In the meantime, I submitted my CT scan from Kaiser that I got last year to a second opinion service and here are the results:

There is no evidence for appendicitis. There is evidence circumferential wall thickening involving
duodenum, loops of jejunum as well as proximal ileum compatible with enteritis. Differential includes
chronic inflammatory process (such as Crohn's) versus infectious process. Consider followup with
upper endoscopy. The stomach is underdistended and as apparent gastric wall thickening. This may
represent gastritis. No evidence for small or large bowel obstruction. There is no evidence of
abdominal ascites or lymphadenopathy

So what it's saying is that my small intestine is inflamed and it looks to be chronic - right? Do people with IBS have this? Would this indicate something other than IBS?

I have had a colonoscopy to which Kaiser said they didn't see anything abnormal (maybe I should submit that to the 2nd opinon service as well!) I've made an appointment to have an upper GI (guess I'll have to send those result out as well!)

Still, with these crazy diets that leave me with nothing to eat other than rice, oats, quinoa and steamed veggies.. I'd love to know if enteritis indicates a clue I should follow?

Thanks!!!
