Hello All,
Thanks for being here. I've been kind of a lurker on this site for years. DX w/ "sensitive gut" (not clear cut IBS
about 10 years ago) w/ IBS symptoms that have waxed and waned from daily problems which were very tiring but not debilitating w/ few serious episodes year. I've had symptoms that have come and gone (daily mild D, then no D for mos at a time, nausea for a year, then no nausea, etc) over days weeks and months for years now. Had a couple years w/ an almost normal stomach again, then flare up of problems while going through divorce w/ a young child, which I'm at the tail end of (no pun) now. The bottom line (all these puns
) is that I have a gut that does not work great, but I'd call it more "out of sync gut" or "mild IBS" than the full blown deal. I need your advice, and I send my deepest thanks and also appreciation to everyone on these boards who suffers and keep on going, with courage. I was nauseous at one point STRAIGHT w/ no relief for a bout 3 mos when this started (after central America extended travel, parasites supposedly ruled out, who knows) and IT WAS AWFUL, and have had a handful of "attacks" in the 10 years, also awful. My heart goes out. Sorry SO LONG- so here's my question/situation: currently my biggest complaint is that esp at PMS or during my period, butpretty consistently more mildly throughout the mo- I have bad gas at bedtime and again on waking. Sometimes stinkeroo. ICK. I don't even want to be near it! Some mornings/nights ti's not much and then a few late nights/mornings a month it's really intense. What upsets me is that at night is when I eat my healthiest meal. I try to abide mainly by IBS diet- eat rice w/ every dinner, avoid the REALLY gassy veggies, lowfat etc. But even ANY veggies can set it off, and this makes me sad as I love them and it's not healthy not to eat them! As it is I'd say I eat half as much veg as I did prior to all this IBS gas. TOnight I had a small serving of asparagus and it's yuck. Weird too that almost ONLY late at night/early morning, seems to be related to being sedentary, too. I try not to eat too late. THE ISSUE NOW is that I'm single, but quite ready for someone in many ways emotionally and physically (quite fit etc) but it gives me pause the idea of getting into a new relationship w/ this bedtime/wake up gas (usually not there DURING the night). Anyhow, any tips reallly appreciated. I'm falling for someone and worried about how to handle this. As we move toward intimacy, it occurs to me this could "crop up." Ick. It's muy embarrassing, and til the past few mos was never part of my IBS baggage. Now most of the other symptoms are gone, but this NEW thing to deal w/. ANY SUGGESTIONS, please! Thanks for reading this novel.

Best to all, M
