I need to complain...       07/13/05 10:40 AM Edit Reply Quote Sailing Away Reged: 03/31/05 Posts: 304 Rachel, Noticing that you are also from Iowa, I know that most of the towns/cities in the state have noise ordinances (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Ames, Waterloo and Cedar Falls are the ones that I have run into) that the police will come out an enforce. I know my neighbor's house had three teenage boys who had their stereo cranked that it vibrated everything in my house 25 feet away. I called the nonemergency police number and told them that I had approached them numerous times (had dates and times) and asked for them to turn the music down but at 11:00 pm-4:00 am is a bit extreme. The officers came out and would get a noise level and if it was above the set limit they would issue a warning the first time. The next time it was a ticket to the parents, and the third time there was a fine and court appearance for both the parents and the kids. After the third time I didn't have any more problems. I even thought about setting off the panic alarms on our two vehicles at 6 am while I walked the dog but thought that might be cruel to the other neighbors. Instead the best revenge was getting our dog to start barking to wake up their big lab/pitbull mix who would bark and bark to go outside and play with our little dog. Course now all the dogs seem to get together in the morning and chat which I can at least sleep through.
