Hi Galwae, Thanks very much but actually, I found out this much on another board where 5HTP was discussed some time ago. You are right about it being the same main 'ingredient', but the difference seems to be that 'my 5HTP' is not herbal, or at least it doesn't say so (don't know whether there is another way of producing it) and it's not marketed at all like a natural product, but like a conventional medication. And it's a prescription medicine.
The problem in the US seems to have had something to do with impurities (I followed it up at the time)and therefore perhaps with the production process (I gather). So, my logic is that if this is a 'proper' medication, produced by a larger pharmaceutic compangy or factory (don't get me wrong, I'm not at all against herbal remedies) impurities might be more unlikely (this is really just my logic to defend my decision not to worry!). And it being a prescription medication might be some assurance that side effects would be noticed and reported. It really does help me, thank God!
