Manually stimulated pain?

Hello. I posted a few times on the diet board in the past, but this isn't diet related so I guess that makes this the place.

I have had diagnosed IBS for about 6 months now. I deal with pain every day but it's a functional pain and I can't make it worse by touching where it hurts. It's kinda like a dragging/pulling feeling.

Well, my doctor just put me on Xifaxin (sp?) an oral anti-biotic and I have been using it for three days. I have noticed that yesterday and today I have pain in my lower and side abdomen (not where the "ab" muscles are, but around it) when I stretch, twist, or poke that area with my finger. I didn't see this listed as a potential side effect and it doesn't seem like a logical result - why would killing bacteria in the small intestine cause soreness on the bottom and sides of the midsection? It's almost like it would feel if I did a big ab workout with weighted crunches, etc. But I haven't done anything like that.

Any ideas? Should I notify my doctor?
