Ayahuasca & Shamanism

I had IBS in the form of a cramp in my left side accompanied by late afternoon bloating and gas since February of 2003. In May of this year, I took a trip to Peru to participate in Shamanic healing ceremonies with Ayahuasca. I went for a number of reasons in addition to my IBS, both spiritual and physical. I am still amazed and so happy to say that it has cured my IBS, directly and indirectly. While I was in Peru, I wasn't allowed to have any caffiene due to the possible interactions with the Ayahuasca. I didn't have any IBS episodes while I was there. I had tried cutting out caffiene previously (in addition to many other remedies), but it didn't work. Well when I returned from Peru, I went back to my usual 2 cups of black tea a day routine. I went a few weeks without an episode, but then I had a few here and there (still, the frequency and severity was much less, before I left it was every day without fail ). So I decided to completely eliminate caffiene from my diet, and it's been 2 months since I've had any trace of my IBS. So, the Ayahuasca most definitely helped (in more ways than one), but so did cutting out caffiene. I highly recommend checking out shamanism and Ayahuasca ceremonies to anyone who is interested in facing their fears, doing some deep soul-searching and letting go of a lot of unnecessary baggage!
