Hi, Jimmy. Unfortunately, depression and IBS are often found together. I have Bipolar Disorder, OCD and IBS. I found Effexor was excellent for my IBS, but didn't really help my depression. I strongly recommend that you talk to the Doc to get on another SSRI that may be more effective. Give it AT LEAST 12 weeks to work. I'm not kidding. Effexor took more than that for me. Once you are less depressed, you are much more likely able to cope with the IBS. In the meantime, try Heather's diet. Read through all the guidelines carefully and follow them. Did you have all the tests for a proper IBS diagnosis? If not, get them done.
