You have IBS-D and are on vacation. Imagine experiencing horrible cramping when you entered the hotel room after checking in. You reach the toilet just in time only to discover very little toilet paper remaining on one roll and no extra rolls of paper! This happened to me twice at two major hotel chains. Luckily, I'd packed an extra toilet paper roll in the suitcase and it came in handy!

My two cents here - hotel housekeeping staff should restock the room with at least two FULL rolls of toilet paper after the previous guest checked out. If anyone out there is in the hotel industry, consider passing this tip onto the housekeeping staff.

Now for an interesting story: Two years ago, we stayed at a family owned motel. The room had adequate toilet paper when we arrived, but I had several attacks of IBS-D during the first day and a half of our stay and most of it was used up. I called the front desk to request more toilet paper, saying I wasn't "feeling well." The owner asked if there was anything else I needed like Pepto-Bismol. She thought I had a "stomach bug." I told her I had IBS. She said "Oh my, I have that too. They'll be right up with the paper." Less than five minutes later, housekeeping brought 12 rolls toilet paper to the room. We had booked a one week stay. Every day when we'd return to the room after housekeeping made the beds and cleaned, the bathroom contained fresh towels and a supply of no less than 12 rolls of toilet paper. Because we enjoyed our stay the previous year, we returned again last summer. We entered the room and I opened up the suitcase to unpack. My husband went into the bathroom to wash his hands. He came out and said, "Take a look in here. They remembered you." In the bathroom next to a stack of neatly folded towels sat 12 rolls of toilet paper! (Yes, we left a generous tip for housekeeping after both stays.)
