I'm pretty new to this site and its looks just great! I have recently been 'diagnosed' so to speak by the doctor as having IBS. I've had it for around 5 years now only just starting to do something about it now, before this time I have simply put up with being CONSTANTLY constipated with the odd bout of diarrhoea once a month which in all honesty is an incredible relief. Aside to this everyday is the same feeling of having a brick in the bottom of my stomach, sometimes sever cramping pains and just generally feeling like a fat blob being really bloated! This all leaves me feeling really tired and lethargic and the LAST thing I want to do on top of working 12 hours a day is exercise.

Since reading this site everyday for the last couple of weeks I have changed my foods etc and do feel a bit better (I know it will take time) today I have ordered Heathers Acacia powder, peppermint capsules and IBS Book hopefully it will arrive in a week or so, which I hoping will help make things even clearer and easier to follow.

Anyway getting to the point (sorry!), over the years I know I have probably made my own IBS worse by yo-yo dieting on every diet imaginable, but always basing it around the 'typically' healthy food (brown bread, brown rice, wheat pasta, fruit, green veg) and my gosh I know that was the WORST thing I could have been doing, and surprise, surprise I was never losing weight, feeling awful and tired and not having any will to exercise. I am now so desperate to one, make myself feel better through following the IBS diet but also to finally lose the 3 stone I have been so badly trying to lose for the last few years. Being overweight is really starting to get me down now and I'm hoping that transferring to this way of eating is going to naturally help, but I worry that my huge appetite is never going to change and that my will for exercise is still not going to raise (through feeling tired all the time).

I'm hoping this doesn't all sound abnormal to others on the site and would love to be in contact with anyone who is at a similar stage to myself (basically changing their whole way of eating with a big focus being to lose weight) as I think I certainly might be able to actually make a change this time doing it in line with someone else who understands dieting is even more complicated when you have IBS and to be able to email for advice, comparisons of how things are going etc – I guess one would call it a 'buddy'!!
If anyone feels they are in the same situation and thinks this would be a good idea for them to0 please contact me through the forum or email is fine goldkt10@googlemail.com
