after 31 hours of travel, i am back from alaska. had a really great time. in terms of diet & ibs - i decided to give myself a break from the super-anal dieting for the week, let it really be vacation. counting calories just wasn't going to happen. turned out to only have gained 3 or 4 pounds (and i'm premenstrual and it's the end of the day!) which is not bad at all. with the time of the month and clothing and weighing myself at 6pm, that's practically nothing.

in terms of ibs it was less successful. i got a little lax, eating richer desserts than i should, and not staying away from dairy very well - more of a problem for the fat than the dairiness. i also ate bigger meals than i've been used to. i was fine for the first half of the cruise, then started to feel not-so-hot. after a small mid-week attack i reined it in a little. but not really enough. woke up yesterday morning (at 5am for our train to anchorage) with *terrible* cramps, and had a worse D attach than i have in weeks. ate carefully since then - mostly bread and cereal and bagels, but i've had really painful gas all day today. might've turned into more D if i hadn't been on donnatol all day. traveling for two days hasn't helped. but i'm home now, with fennel tea, and back in the game for real tomorrow. calorie counting, that decadent gym membership, and posting back here. i've missed it.

and as for back in the game - my birthday is december 12, about 3 months away, so i'm aiming for this: 140 by my birthday. that's 12ish lbs. i think it's do-able, and even though it's a small pound amount, the idea of being 140 is really exciting.
