I have been perscribed oxycodone for post surgery pain (surgery related to IBS complications of course!). In my opinion, if it was perscribed to you, your pain warrants it. I remember some advice though - do not take this stuff on an empty stomach and take it easy while you're on it. This drug made me quite naucius. If I was doing anything other than sitting still and relaxing for a couple hours after a meal, I would loose my lunch. I would stick to soluable fibers, lots of water and comfort foods! On the addiction issue, it is a concern, but doctors would not perscribe it if it wasn't necesarry - believe me there are SEVERE penalties for those who do. I was all worried when I was taking them too because my husband is a DEA agent and I had this horrible thought I would get addicted and he would get in trouble! Take only the minimum dose you need. I remember staring off with two pills twice a day right after surgery and gradually weening myself down to one a half and one pill and then only half a pill. Also - be careful where and how you store these things. Keep the bottle in your medicine cabinet. If you need to take pills while you're out of the house, only take those pills with you, not the bottle. These things sell upwards of 15.00 a pill on the street and people will steel them from you and that could cause some administrative hassle! (That's a hint from the hubby)! Other than that, I would say get your rest, take care of yourself, keep your precautions in mind (they're always good for you) and get better soon.
