I'm not really sure how to explain this....only a gastrointesional doctor can diagnose you with IBS right? Well after I had all kinds of tests - xrays, colinoscopy, a scope of my stomach, etc...he sent me home saying I was just 'irritated'. I went in for a follow up about 2 weeks later after looking up IBS on my own, and I suggested that I thought I had it. He said, 'yeah yeah that's what I think you have'. So since then I've been on this website, trying to change my diet (I've been following it exactly for about a week now).
I'm just a little nervous because I was vomiting for about a month, and I get these anxiety attacks...like when we go to a friends house, I get really nervous all of a sudden and I just want to go home. I feel dizzy and nausous sometimes. I'm scared to go anywhere for the weekends, and we have trips planned this weekend and the next 3 weekends!
Also, I lost a lot of weight in the past 3 months, and weight loss isn't a symptom of IBS. But I think I lost the weight because I was throwing up so much. Now I am taking benefiber, and eating according to the diet, and some days I feel like it's working, and others I feel really crappy all day.
So I guess what I'm asking is - does anyone else get those anxiety attacks? Do they go away? Does anyone else get nausous? (I haven't thrown up for about a month now, I just feel really light-headed).
How long did it take everyone to get 'stabilized'? I want to start eating some other foods, but I'm really scared!
