According to the one article, they don't know all the reasons bile acid might be malabsorbed, and the test is not available in the U.S. So, you'd HAVE to find a G.I. only? willing to prescribe one of these three meds:Cholestyramine (Questran), Colesevelam (WelChol) or Colestipol (Colestid) to try for ibs, even if you still have your gallbladder (with dysfunction examined) and your cholesterol is NOT high I suppose.
