Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Indian Food, Biryani Feeling BAD

So I'm wondering if anybody here can relate and maybe explain what went bad.

Last night I wanted to participate with the rest of the crowd who wanted to order Indian. I know from Heather's book Indian is very iffy.

I thought the Shrimp Biryani was most likely to be safe. I made sure when I ordered to ask what it is cooked in and to make sure it does not have yogurt, butter, or garlic.
I was assured it did not have dairy, so I ordered.

Instantly while eating I started to feel that very specific bloat I get when I eat dairy. Following the meal, I was on the toilet six times and today feel just really bloated, a mess.

So either the Indian Restaurant is lying, or some mystery ingredient did it.
Biryani did not specify it had curry powder (I would think it would not) it just said spices. Also, the way I feel, again, it is how I get when I have dairy.

If the restaurant didn't lie, what then did this to me?
My guess is they cooked it in ghey and din't know enough english vocab to know that ghey is the same as butter.
