Welcome to the board,

Whole and shredded coconut is very high in insoluble fiber and whole/shredded coconut & coconut milk are high in saturated oil which are not healthy. Some of us do use small amount of low fat coconut milk for cooking.

Avocado has a fair amount of SF which coconut doesn't and the oil it contains is unsaturated making it more healthy than coconut oil. Here is what Heather says about avocados "Avocados are sometimes avoided by people with IBS because they're considered to be high in fat. Actually, they're just high in fat for a fruit (most fruits are fat-free). One large avocado typically has only 100 calories from fat, which is about one tablespoon. Plus, one large avocado makes enough guacamole for several people to share, so each person is only getting about one teaspoon of fat per serving. In addition, the fats are monounsaturated and heart-healthy. "

The alkalizing effect of these foods has nothing to do with causing IBS symptoms and generally speaking the whole idea is very suspect. See Acid/Alkaline Theory of Disease Is Nonsense and the article on the American Institute for Cancer research Cancer and Acid-Base Balance: Busting the Myth.
