Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Had Sitz-Marker Done

Hi Guys!

I went to a new gastroenterologist to see if she could help me better than the one that I was seeing. She tested me for Celiac's Disease - it came back negative. Then she wanted me to take a Sitz Marker pill and come back in a week for an x-ray. It turns out that my large intestine is longer than normal and it is "floppy" on the left side. The x-ray showed that the markers made it through the right side, but got "stuck" on the left. Therefore, feces and gas are getting stuck there too. She told me to drink Magnesium Citrate to flush out my system and then take Miralax for a month to see if it helps with the constipation. I asked her about my intestines getting dependant on laxatives...she said that since I'm not going normally on my own anyways, then I need that extra "push" from the laxatives. I really am afraid to take any laxatives because they give me bad cramps (even Miralax) and make me nauseous. Since I have a "floppy" colon along with IBS is it a good idea and the only way that I can get relief? Any response would be appreciated, I'm really worried about this.
