Re: problems with bananas?       08/14/09 10:02 AM Edit Reply Quote BoulderGal Reged: 08/03/09 Posts: 6 Hey linisue- I searched for "bananas" within the Eating for IBS Diet Board, and Syl posted on Aug 1 2009 about high fructose corn syrup and how some folks with IBS don't absorb it very well, making them sensitive to some fruit. If you click on the link to the newsletter and look up the article, you'll find a whole list of fruits that are higher in fructose than glucose. I'm not sure how relevant that is to bananas since I didn't see them in the list. And I'm not sure how relevant fructose malabsorption is to me, since right now I can't eat any fruit at all lest I get sick for days. I can't even eat banana bread! I'm actually getting tested today for food allergies to rule that out as the cause. It sounds like others have problems with bananas too, so at least I'm not alone there!
