Which bread are you referring to about the whey? The Walmart plain french bread (label says "French Bread Single Loaf") does not have whey.

I eat it constantly and did the entire time I was stabilizing. I'm looking at it now, and it has... flour, water, yeast, & 2% or less of the following: HFCS, salt, soybean oil, sodium aluminum phosphate, baking soda, dough conditioner. Nothing sinister.

Maybe you were looking at the toppings list? That's on here, too, and if you get one of the varieties with parmesan cheese on top or something, that would have dairy in it.

I'm not sure about the Pepperidge Farm oatmeal & sourdough breads. I've eaten the PF Hot & Crusty Twin French bread, though, and it was yummy! (contains a little HFCS, but not enough to bother me at all)
