I take Robitussin (the green one) for a cold which is really just guafinesin, the same ingredient in Mucinex. For some reason the strong cherry liquid Robitussin gives me a similar effect to taking Nyquil or something like that and "opens me up" so I can sleep better. I also use Afrin on occassion if I feel a sinus infection is looming. Drink lots of water and take immodium if you have to for the d. You need to stay hydrated. Feel better.
