Going off proton pump inhibitors can cause bad rebound;Your stomach gets use to not having as much acid, so some people (I read) wean off of ppi's by taking some anti-acid and then wean off that. I'm off omeprizole ppi after 10 years, which still left me while on it with bad, but not as bad heartburn as before it. I was scared to increase the potency for fear I'd never eventually get off it. It started because of the IBS-D in the first place;so, concentrated of that initially. GI never tested me for a lack of acid before putting me on it, shamefully, since having too low acid can feel like having too much; That should be a standard test. BTW people's acid can lower as they age.
-------------------- 7/2017: CBD oil solves some IBS spasming, expensive. Benadryl relaxes some spasming, but tiring and drying..Dizzy from presc. meds., yet still spasming.Taking less probios and more enzymes. No gluten. Weight steady. Less migraines and heartburn with double ginger bags and feverfew standardized, sometimes Imitrex. Body aches. Taking (non-frementing) methylcellulose caplets instead of having done acacia. Drinking 10C/day water constantly keeps away most trapped gas. Couldn't get disability.
