Honey, I have had four major surgeries and a number of minor ones. Really, you have to wait until there is nothing that can be done about the disease in that area, medically speaking. At that point, the scar tissue or fistuli make the disease only surgically treatable. In the first place, it makes it easier to make the decision to go under the knife as there is really nothing else to do.

But really , Cliff, it is an individual decision and a scary one at that for the first timer. Know that we will be here for you when that time comes and can walk you through the decision, the surgery, the hospital stay and the recovery. Also, be sure to check out the chapter I wrote on the subject.
