Is interuterine insemination. The man will leave a "deposit" in the morning and they "wash" the sperm by seperating the sperm from the seminal fluid and put it into a syringe hooked to a cathiter. The washing process usually is done in the dr's office and takes a couple of hours. The women than goes in and "assumes the position" in the stir-ups and they insert the cathiter into the cervix and inject the washed sperm. This by passes the vagina and any hostile cervical mucus and also helps when there is a low sperm count or slow motility on the mans part.

Its a simple procedure that takes just a few minutes to complete. Its relatively painless, or so I've heard, about like a pap smear. The cost isn't too bad, my RE charges $200. for each insemination and they usually do two per cycle, just before and just after you ovulate.

Since I KNOW I CAN get pregnant, I think I'm going to wait one more cycle and see how I react to the Femara instead of the clomid. About 20% of women taking clomid will expierence bad side effects, hot flashes and headaches are common and tolerable but the depression is awful for me and it has dried up all teh necessary cervical mucus which is why I think I'm not getting pregnant now. The femara isn't supposed to do that so I'm hoping just the change in hormones will do the trick! If I don't get pregnant this cycle than next cycle I will probably pay for the iui!
