I just made this with Cherry filling and it turned out great!

I baked it some more, though, like 45 minutes. That's what it said on the package -- bake 38 to 48 minutes.

I used a 20 oz can of cherry filling
filled the can with 1.5 inches of water and added that to the mixture.

Read the instructions on the side of the box of angel food cake. It should have several baking options with the times. My favourite is the muffin tins. Makes 24 - GREAT for snacks.

Mine doesn't have different baking options. Is there a different time for the muffin tins?

You'll have to keep a close watch on them. When the top of the angel food cake is a golden brown, they're done. With muffin tins, once they're finished, they'll burn fast because of how little mix is in each dish. I'd start with 5-10 minutes at 350 derees, and then go in 2-5 minute increments depending on your ovens temperament. Or just sit and watch until they're done. It won't take long.

What brand of cake mix are you using? All I found was Betty Crocker and it had milk in it.

I use Betty Crocker and the amount of milk in it is so trivial that it has never bothered me. Many of the generic store brands are dairy-free. And I think that Heather has a recipe as well.

I'd like to try the muffins, but I don't want them to overflow all over my oven!

I generally fill whatever I am using about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up for angel food cake. It rises pretty rapidly. n/t new

If you have an extra pan, just any pan as long as it's large enough, you can arrange the racks in the oven so that the one you'll put the muffin tin is on top and put the extra pan on the lower rack to catch overflow. I do that all the time, because I don't know how to make my oven clean itself.

on the lower rack - even the oven bottom if you don't have coils there and won't block any gas jet thingies.

I give up. I cannot find a single box of angel food cake mix that DOES NOT contain milk. I made the Betty Crocker kind once (which does contain milk) and it didn't quite sit right with me; I think I'm just way too sensitive to dairy. Why is this so difficult???

Sorry, just wanted to vent because I'm too lazy to make it from scratch.
