My grandma made the best baked apples. she would peel the apple and cut it in half. She would cut out the seeds/core and place the apples in a baking dish. The little hole where she cut out the seeds is facing up, and she would pack with brown sugar (and sometimes 3 raisins). She put a pat of butter on top of the brown sugar. (You could probably substitute a tiny bit of soy margarine, but not too much to keep fat content down.) I wish I knew the temp and time, but like mmacdonald says, 350 sounds right, until soft. mmmm!

I used to make this all the time, but I didn't know why it made my tummy hurt. Now I know I shouldn't have been eating the skin! Try Rome Beauty apples when they're in season, they bake up very nicely. Here goes:

Baked Apple

1 medium apple, washed and cored
1 tablespoon raisins
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon butter
Cinnamon

Place the apple in a microwaveable dish. Put the brown sugar in the apple, add the raisins, break up the butter and put it on top. Then sprinkle the cinnamon generously over the apple. Zap on HIGH for 7 to 8 minutes or until the apple is tender. Serve warm. If apples are room temperature, the cooking time will be slightly shorter (6 minutes). Serves 1.

I DID IT! I made my first baked apple--and it was SCRUMPTIOUS! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for the recipes! I haven't had an apple since November or December--and it is SO GREAT to be able to eat them again.

*hugs*

I made it too, but I think I made a mistake. How do you core an apple? I cut open the apple, took out the stem and seeds, and then had one half of the apple cut into 3 pieces, and then the other half. I tried to have them stay as one but they didn't, can someone explain how to do this correct here.

I'm wondering if something in this made me sick. Tonight has been rough for me, I had bloating and d, is it possible this was high in fat?
When I get bloated and have d, and have this kind of bloating, it felt like it does when I have a cookie to eat.
I also had Butterball ground turkey and corn, but I had 3 spoons of applesuace, soulable fiber, before.
