I have found that the IBS recipes take such a long time and I have trouble keeping up with all the ingredients because there alot that I don't have.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quickly stock my cupboards with new ingredients? Also - any quick meal ideas? (IE: Thyme, and those types of ingredients - because I think soon I will have tons of these little ingredients and not use them very often)

I work two jobs and don't get home until later and my husband only knows how to make hamburger helper or fried eggs and bacon lol.

Any suggestions would help...I just find it so difficult to experiment with new meal ideas because I find these meals in the cookbook to take so long and because I don't want to find something else to make if it doesn't turn out lol.

I am 24 years old and have never really had to cook meals before because I was always able to buy the quick meals.

Quick easy meals I like - baked potatoes (microwave or stick 'em in the oven and forget them for an hour), pasta ( 10 minutes to cook or 2 minutes in the microwave if you can get the pre-cooked packs), potato gnocchi with a tin of tuna and a quick soy milk sauce thickened with cornstarch.
Check out previous posts - perhaps some stuff you could experiment with on the weekend then get your hubby to reheat.

Do you have Heather's book "The First Year"? There is a section in there about re-stocking your shelves. It's a wonder!!

I have the book on order, but they still haven't called me that it's in...I have the IBS Cookbook. I will have to call the people there and see what's up because that will be so helpful.

Thank you,

What is potato gnocchi? I don't think I have heard of that before?

Hopefully you get the book soon. I ordered mine from Heather's website and it arrived very quickly. If you've ordered it from a bookstore, keep calling them. You never know - it may be in a pile somewhere with your name on it!!

Anyway, when you do get it, as I said before, the re-stocking your shelves section is very helpful. I took my book to the grocery store and stocked up (I didn't even need a list as Heather already made it for me in the book!) My menu options varied immensely since I did this. (plain old oatmeal really isn't all that exciting after a while - although necessary during a flare-up!!)

Hopefully this helps and happy shopping!

They're a little pasta made out of potato. They're really dense. And yummy!

I love this recipe. It came from Quick Cooking. I only had to substitute ground turkey for the ground beef. You can put all the other ingrediants in a bag, spices in a plastic bag and store it in the cupboard and then just get it out with the meat and you will have dinner in about 30 min.

1 Pound of ground turkey
2 cans (14-1/2 oz) stewed tomatoes
1/4 cup dried onion (I usually use reg. onions and cook with turkey)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni

In a skillet, brown turkey; drain. Add tomatoes and seasonings: bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 min. Uncover; simmer until macaroni is tender and sauce it thickend. Makes 4 servings.

That sounds wonderful - my gosh - my mouth is watering. I will have to give it a try - I have printed it off.

Where do you get ground turkey anyways - I go to a supermarket and have not been able to find it in the meat aisle. Can you tell me what it looks like.

That and soy products. I have alot of trouble finding those. I can find soy milk, but as for the cheese and creams and everything. NO WAY!

Thanks
