I can't believe I forgot to share this!! I've made these a couple of times, and they're so tasty and flavorful. 'Tis the season for grilling again... yay!

Peking Chicken Burger

1/2 cup green onions (I've made these with and without the onions and it's good both ways)
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 egg whites or 1/4 cup Egg Beaters, beaten and seasoned with salt and pepper
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 lb ground chicken (I actually use turkey)

1. Preheat grill to medium-high; mix onion with garlic, egg, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil in a large bowl until well combined.
2. Crumble ground chicken into the bowl and add breadcrumbs; incorporate well.
3. Divide into 4 parts.
4. Shape into 4 patties, about 10-cm wide.
5. Grill the patties.
6. Turn once; about 10 minutes.

I find it with the Chinese condiments - soy sauce, duck sauce, sweet and sour sauce. I don't know what's in it - it's dark and thick.

These burgers are absolutely fabulous. I was making them at least once a week during the summer for the grill.

I just made this for dinner tonight and it was soooo yummy. My husband loved it! I did have a problem getting the actual hamburgers formed - they crumbled really bad. What do you think would fix this? Adding more breadcrumbs? Did anyone else have a problem with this?

Mine are always a little mushy, but they always grill up okay so I never worried about it. I suppose more breadcrumbs probably would help, though. I'm so glad you and your hubby enjoyed the burgers!

This was the first time I have used sesame seed oil OR hoisin sauce. The hoisin looked sort of gross, but I wasn't too put off by that. The sesame seed oil, on the other hand ... whoa. To be honest, I thought it smelled really bad, and probably could have been a finalist if they ever had a "Horrible Food Smell Idol".

So, I was expecting to have to throw the pan of burgers in the garbage -- but, they were so good. They were very flavorful and juicy, and, best of all, did not taste like the smell of sesame seed oil.

I used turkey and I omitted the green onions because I didn't have any (though I sprinkled in some onion powder so it wouldn't get lonely). I think it would be awesome with the green onions.

Thanks for the recipe, Kree!
