I've been having a spell of IBS for a few weeks now along with insomnia, Fibro, and arthritis...not sure which makes which worse, probably all related. But I'm on Amoxicillin for a tooth abscess and the gas and terrible burping seem much worse than ususal. Could the antibiotics be causing this? Thanks.

Antibiotics are fungal toxins (poisons) that will alter the bowel flora...kill the good bacteria along with the bad, allowing fungus/yeast to proliferate. So, I would say yes to your question. Antibiotics can cause ill-health issues, even years after. So, I would highly recommend you taking a reputable probiotic, at least 2 hours after your last antibiotic dose of the day.

Studies show bifido-bacterium infantis is the most beneficial (Align) or the more potent ones are here...

Digestive Enzymes amylase, lipase, and leapase are recommended for killing bad bacteria and enhancing good bacteria. There are several, visit your local supplements store, they will have something that is a blend of all.

Digestive enzymes are proteins that break down foods into constituent parts. They don't kill bad bacteria or enhance good bacteria. Only antibiotics kill bacteria. Prebiotics will help colonic bacteria to grow.
