So, my friend is getting married the end of June. She has asked me to make her a hair piece. I make jewelry with sterling silver and swarovski crystal and she wants a hair come with crystals and pearls. She has asked me several times how much she is going to owe me for it. I just got an invitation to her bridal shower and I was wondering if it would be appropriate for me to wrap up the headpiece, which I've yet to make and give it to her for her bridal shower present? Its probably going to cost me $50-75 which is probably about what I'd spend on a gift anyways. I thought it was a good idea but Will seems hesitant about it, what do you guys think?

I think it sounds like a wonderful present. It is meaningful and personal. I am sure she will love it. My aunt made my veil and it means so much more that someone made it for me and I did not just buy it at the bridal store. You will have to show us pictures of the final product:-)

some brides don't want anyone else to see any of their dress/accessories etc so if your friend is one of those then don't give it to her in public. But, you could buy a pretty box and do a gift certificate in it for the headdress and give that to her?

post a pic of it too!

Yes!! For sure!!

That is what my Grandma & 2 Aunts did for me...I had asked them to help me make the "gift buckets" for the out of town guests to put into the hotel rooms and as a bridal gift they made a homemade gift certificate type thing saying that they were making them for me as my gift. Saved me about $300-350.

Michele,

I think it would be a lovely idea. You know it is something that she really wants and will appreciate.

I agree! What a neat and unique present to give a friend. As far as her not wanting people to see it, maybe take a picture of it and put it in a box with a note saying that you weren't sure if she wanted everyone to see it before the wedding so that's why there is a pic in there and she can exchange it for the real thing!

As a blushing bride to be, I wouldn't take offense if someone made a gift like that to me. I would be touched.
