My mom's dog lets it rip, and then looks at his rear end with embarassment as if to say, why did this happen to me??

LOL! I'm imagining that and it's too funny!

Yep, we don't want pity, it's annoying. People mean well, though, so I just let it ride.

"I guess I cower from alot of life." Girlfriend, you gotta find a way to learn to enjoy life. This is not a rehearsal.

"I never really go anywhere/do anything. I don't drive either (anxiety attacks), lately." I have SOOOO been there. Have you considered Michael's hypnosis program? It's AWESOME! Go into the Hypnosis Board and check out "Success Stories" (mine's there). I have Michael to thank for ridding me of all my anxiety!

Thanks for the WW tips. I'm anxious to join and "get into it." I'm obsessive compulsive, so I'll have no problems with that logging thing.

"One day I'll have a photo of something lovable to whip out." How about the best lovable thing of all -- you?

Bev

Oh dear, you sound like me re: anxiety interfering with life stuff (driving, shopping, fun, M.D. appointments). My dad does a huge bulk of shopping at Cost Co. for me, weekly and then we hit a grocery store or two really fast once a week. (He has to shop too) I only go one other time, generally with my mother and grandmother (who's 80-something) and that's halfway in the week. If I need/want anything else, I take cabs. It's not bad--only $6.00 Cdn. one way.

Re: natural remedies besides camomile.

Most of them make me want to vomit--honestly, they severely nauseate me or trigger my gag-reflex. Deep breathing, meditation, a walk (even if it's to the mailbox), music, more secular/sensual things work for me. It's shifting focus/energy levels--connecting with a story or a movie or, to borrow a Maria-ism: "to be a total magazine whore."

I've gotta run, at the moment (going shopping with Mum/Grandmother/and Nazarin, too!).

Kate.

i usually don;t make it over to this board, and when i do i just lurk, but leave it to you to get me talking.

...i don't really have anything to say. just know that i'm sending you lots of love.

i second what other folks are saying about the benefits of a cat, though. i'm head over heels in love with my kitten, and though, for me, she's in a context of roommates and friends, it's really such a heartening thing, to have this little creature purring asleep in your lap. the way they draw our attention out of ourselves, i think, is helpful, too.

for various other reasons, i completely know what you mean about things creating this perceived lack of femininity and how that impacts the dating/men thing. i *seriously* feel you there.

lots and lots of love sent your way.

Hey, Kate! Good, you're getting out of the house, today!?? I really need to go to the bank to make a deposit and I am afraid to go......I'm sooo PATHETIC!!!! For me to be where I have been in my life and have done the things that I have done without a care in the world.......this JUST BAFFLES ME!!!!!!

The first time I came down with this when I was in college, I didn't care. I still went to class, I still went out ALL THE TIME, I took many trips up north to see the basketball games. I couldn't even swallow because my GERD was so bad and I would go to subway and have a big sub, anyway!! Why can't I be like this now???? Well, I didn't have many "D" attacks, though. I had more GERD than IBS. This IBS attack thing has just consumed my life and I cannot get out of this rut. I cannot believe I am afraid to leave my house! I wish I could just not care anymore and do what I want to do. That worked best for me. But, unfortunatley I can't. Hopefully this is where the hypno will help me.

I try to take walks every now and then and it gives me heart-attack-feeling chest pain because of my reflux. But, it does take my mind off of my anxiety and my IBS, momentarily!!

Glad to hear you got out, today! Maybe I will get out this evening. I need air!!! I can't breathe....It's so suffocating in here because of all of my own carbon dioxide!!! hehehehehe
