I still haven't managed to get my blood test done but I was wondering, with the insomnia is it the aching that stops you going to sleep or is it the aching pains or is it a combination of both? I had one of those nights last night and despite being on AD's that are supposed to knock me out they are no longer doing their job and I'm spending less and less time getting the sleep that I need. Thanks in advance for the info

It's all so linked together for me that I can hardly tell. Most of the time, I'm not even woken up by pain or anything...but if I have an achey/painful day, then I know I'll sleep worse.

You can't have Ambien, right? Have you tried Valerian? It really helps me.

I'm not sure what Ambien is and I'm a bit concerned about taking a sleeping pill (even a herbal one) on top of the AD's my doc has me on. I don't sleep but I feel completely doped out all day long. Plus with the girls waking up 6 to 12 times a night, I kinda need to be alert enough to get up to them. Thanks for trying to help though. I have a doc app tomorrow, I'll bring it up with him.

Fyi, the AD's don't work for everyone's sleep! Elavil gave me insomnia . The Valerian works way better for me...and no morning effects.

Why do your girls wake up so often?

Ambien is a sedative hypnotic. Thinking about it, you probably wouldn't want to take it as it knocks you out, so mommy-ing would be out of the question!

Good luck with the doc!

I don't know what's wrong with the girls. They've ALWAYS been bad sleepers. I even spent 4 days with them at a major hospital sleep clinic when they were about 4 months old and I think I'm the only person who's been through the clinic who's left with kids that slept as badly as when they arrived! It's very frustrating and very hard to continue to be a good parent when you have bags the size of China and can barely function without some sort of caffiene intake first thing in the morning.
Unfortunately the doc I'm seeing tomorrow is my IBS doc (the one who refuses to consider fibro). It's really hard seeing 2 doctors about 2 separate issues which are kind of intertwined.
Yep, this is my 3rd AD. The first one I ever took hyped me up, made my heart beat a thousand times a minute then gave me chest pains. It was great
The second one doped me out like this one did in the beginning but the doping seems to have worn off for nighttime and kicks in around the time I need to be getting up (despite me taking it about 3 hours before bedtime).
It drives me nuts. I can barely drag myself through the day, then bedtime rolls round and I'm so awake I don't know what to do with myself! Nothing seems to help, no amount of reading, meditating, or warm drinks will send me off to sleepland And now to boot I've had the tummy acting up for 48 hours and am back to pretty much SF food only, sigh, I guess there will be an end to it eventually.
Thanks for the help

...if I were you I'd try Valerian! It makes such a difference to me....however, being woken up 6 times in a night would put any Fibromite in a flare IMHO. Are there are herbs (like Valerian) that are safe for kids?

but I just can't do it to them. Secretly I look forward to them getting a cold occasionally so I can give them something that sends them off to dreamland, my doctor told me today to hang out for the behaviour specialist as it's really not normal for them to be doing this at their age! Thanks for the help

I must've seen this late....

I find if I am achy I don't sleep. And if i don't sleep I am achy.

I think Linz said it best

The key to feeling better is sleep. Have you tried magnesium malate. I can't sleep without it! I take calcium/magnesium throughout the day. And then an hour or so before bed I take the magnesium malate. It took me a while to figure out how much to take of what. But once I did...I began to sleep better than I have since childhood!

How are you doing Amy? Did you get my last e-mail? I hope you're okay.... *big hugs*

No I haven't tried magnesium malate I don't think. My naturopath put me on magnesium powder that tasted kinda orangey but it gave me horrid belly cramps so I stopped taking it.
As you can tell from my posts about my kids, sleep is a rare thing in this house
I'm not sure if I got your last email, I haven't had one since before you went away which I replied to but maybe it went missing like most of mine seem to do
Thanks for the info. I am okay, tired mostly and stressed and missing DH like crazy but otherwise okay.
My doc diagnosed me with an ED today and has put me on Luvox (simialar to Prozac I think) so hopefully that one might help me out a little.
How are you? How was your trip? I know it didn't work out quite as planned but hope you had a great time anyway
Big hugs back at you!

I was at the HFS and a lady there gave me the best advice I've ever gotten:

To take magnesium malate!

It's not expensive. And it can save your sleep/sanity!

I take Nature's Life mag malate.

If you need more info...let me know *hugs*

Feel good!!!!!

*hugs*

Sorry, I'm crashing....I'll tell you more about me soon...
