Hi all!

So I just discovered this site after years of IBS discomfort! I also am very weight conscious and I think eating "diet" food may have contributed to some of my woes. I am just starting this higher carb diet, and am a bit scared (since I'm used to only eating sugar-free foods and whole grains--no white). I am hoping to get my tummy happy again and also lose about 5-10 lbs. Any suggestions??
ps. I am pretty active, like running and also love yoga and am starting to practice regularly

Losing and gaining weight is a matter of calories taken in versus what you expend so tracking all this on something like fitday.com is a great way to keep on top of it.

I bet you'd be surprised at how high calorie some of your supposed diet foods were - low fat doesn't mean low sugar... plus 1g of fat is 9 calories as opposed to 4 for protein or carbs. Alot of people actually lose weight on this diet as it's so low fat.

My suggestion is stabilise using the diet, tracking your cals as you do to make sure you don't get carried away with anything. And then when you're stable, aim for 500 cals a day less than what you are expending in order to lose the weight!
