I have 2 questions.

1. how many ppl use the free version vs the bought one? which do you like better?

2. need some guidance for calculating lifestyle. i work in an office but i'm up and down a lot on the stairs. do i put my total time at work in there? i tried that and it said i burnt like 2100 cals at work? caloriesperhour.com seems to have more detail and i am leaning toward that. any feedback would be helpful

thanks!

I use the free version and think it's great. I do sometimes use other sources for specific calorie contents and as a Brit I put ALOT of custom foods in, bu it's so helpful

I'd set your lifestyle to seated work some movement and then add extra stairwalking in as an activity if you're doing lots. You don't set your time at work tho...v.confused.

can i ask for your help in how to enter a custom food on fitday? how do i figure out the cals and protein, etc?

here's an example of something i created.

egg salad

contents

6 cooked egg whites
1 sweet potato cooked
2 cups cooked baby carrots
1.5 T fat free mayo
1 T mustard

serving size - 1 cup

i need an example and then i can go from there, i hope.

another question...i have my fitday.com lifestyle set to seated work, some movement. and will follow your suggestion re: adding specific activities. when i'm looking at cals burnt for the day, do i subtract basal, lifestyle, and activities to see what i'm left with? or just activities?

thanks for your kind help. it really is getting me on the right path.

What I do (it might not be the most efficient way) is to find all the individual ingredients, note their nutrients on a piece of paper, add them up and THEN enter it as one custom food, eg. "Egg Salad".

Cals burnt is the total of your basal, your lifestyle AND your activities. For weight loss you then typically subtract 500 from this total.
