Hi!
I'm new to the boards, and I have a lot of questions.
Looking at all of your posts, this seems like a really compfortable place to start. I was on Weight Watchers, and have really had to modify my eating since my diagnosis two weeks ago. I guess I have had IBS for a long time, but I have so much to learn!!!
Right now I'm just trying to make lists of things I can prepare and eat...
I see Luna bars on many of your posts, are those safe?
Do you have favorite recipes that you use often?
I'm trying to continue loosing weight, without the D I have been having due to my IBS.

Any help you can offer would be welcomed.
Thanks for being here. I'm so glad I am not alone.

Welcome. For help with the diet and what to eat, visit the EATING for IBS board. There's tons of posts on lots of topics. Also read through the dietary guidelines written there. It will give you a compass to get yourself going in the right direction.
For tons of recipes that you can safely eat, visit the RECIPE board.
For weight loss and healthy lifestyle stuff, post here. Most people (and it's totally up to you) report in what they're eating for the day (calories, ww points, whatever) just as a checking in and accountability point. I'm currently on weight watchers so if you need some help modifying, let me know. It's a bit tricky because all the soluble fibre foods we need are like 4 points each!!!! It can be a bit of a challenge.
Lastly, we're glad you're here. Make yourself at home.

Hello all, Happy Spring!!! It is supposed to be 70 DEGREES here today - too bad I am stuck inside! Stupid work! If it weren't for that whole paycheck thing . . . anyway, here's Tuesday:

Breakfast - oatmeal made w/soymilk (1/2 serv), dried apricots, 1 c OJ w/fiber, mint tea (372)
Snack - banana, UFO beverage (233)
Lunch - Tomato soup, asiago bagel, oyster crackers (549)
Snack - baby carrots (57)
Dinner - Frontega Chicken Panini (Panera - this would be a UFO for most) - 680 (WHOA!)
Dessert - UFO Easter candy (150)

Excercise - 1 hr pilates class

Water - prob 70 oz

So anyone notice that my calories were WAAAAAY high today? 2213 from food-150 from pilates=2063! Man, that sandwich did me in! Good thing it is not a regular occurance But regardless I never FELT like I had eaten too much so I guess that's good. Hope to be back in the ~1500 calorie range today. But I am going to the Pistons game tonight which means no workout and limited healty food options for dinner. Oh well. I am taking my 7-yr-old cousin for his BD, he is a big fan it is so cute!

Thanks Stef- - I just looked at your calculations- when you do exercise you ADD it to your food budget not subtract, doing exercise means that you can eat more!

Are you sure that pilates only burned 150 calories for an hour? That seems low to me... even yoga burns more than that, and granted, I've never done pilates, but I was under the impression that it was more physical and strenuous than yoga. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Have fun at the game!!!

I had some chip shop chips (french fries) at least two cups....reckon they came in at about 309 cals ...soo
BMR 2299 + 65 activities - 1839 - another 309 food= 525 216 less 500 to lose weight means that remarkably I am within budget. Nope, I am 284 over budget
