I've tried to do what is recommended to make green tea but avoid it being bitter. Unfortunately it hasn't helped. I make sure the water cools after it boils, and then only let it steep for a few minutes. I use 2t green tea to 12 oz water. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joan

Green tea is too bitter for me too. Have you tried sweetening it?

I don't even steep it for a "few minutes." I steep it for about one minute.

Also, when I make it in iced tea, the peppermint complements it well!

Yep, one minute, or maybe 90 seconds max. Also, a lot of the supermarket brands I've found to be really nasty. If you're near a Chinese or Japanese market, try a brand there. If not, Tazo makes some nice blends.

Actually I was really excited because one of the vendors at farmer's market is married to a Japanese woman whose parents run an organic green tea farm so the tea was very fresh. I sure hope they come back. I think I'll just make it weaker.
Thanks,
Joan

That sounds like a great combination. With my reflux I really miss peppermint tea.

I put sugar in it but that didn't take away the bitterness. Funny how that doesn't seem to bother some people. My 9 year old drinks it and doesn't even notice the bitter taste.

My mom bought these really awesome green tea bags that also have fruit flavors mixed in, and I found that it was too DIE for! I loved the peach and mango kinds. I forget the brand name, though! I'm sorry! Then next time I'm at the store I'll try and find it. I've read that green tea is great for your full-body health and for losing weight, so it's great! I hope you can find this soon, because I love it!!
