we aren't supposed to be eating sugar. but isnt there sugar in kix and cornpops. aren't they considered safe foods?

is there a max amount of sugar we should or shouldn't eat? i can cut it out either way...sugar isn't a big prob for me. but i just want to know if that is ok.

Good morning JuLee,

Sugar is ok for IBS. I believe the discussion was based in part on people trying not to gain too much weight so they were watching the amount of sweet treats.

Does Kix have a lot of sugar in it? I haven't looked at it since I've been trying to cut out the sugar.... I haven't munched some Kix in a week or two...

Ummm... Kix....

Drat. Now I want some Kix!

Sugar is okay. You just need to watch if you are trying to lose weight. Another thing to watch out for is high fructose syrup which is found in most cereals. Use moderately honey too. I use rice chex and rice crunch em's.
I found that even rice krispies have high frustose syrup so I use it sparingly. But I still have my rice krispy treats!!
Hope that helps

I'm sure Jen didn't really say she was cutting out sugar. Jen, the Rice Krispy Treat Queen? No, no, I misinterpreted what I read, surely!

The responses you're getting are right; sugar's okay for IBS. I am just having a hard time losing weight, and when I spoke with Heather about it, her suggestion to me was to try cutting out the sugar ONLY as a means to lose some weight since the sugar is empty calories. It has nothing to do with IBS. I'm such a sugar-holic and was addicted to Heather's incredible RKTs (as are certain people who shall remain nameless but who can't give them up and eat them all the time but then claim they're giving up sugar) as well as our infamous ADBs, both of which hubby had to put down the garbage disposal the other day. I am SOOO having withdrawals! Just mentioning them is making me hungry for them. See how I am?

Anyway, sugar's fine. I shouldn't talk about my sugar-free diet in here; I don't mean to scare anyone away from sugar, certainly. And I most definitely wouldn't want certain people to miss out on any of their RKTs, now, would I -- JEN?

I can't say exactly how your body is going to react, but that sounds like a reasonable amount, hon. You should be fine. I remember that you said you were concerned about losing weight. I didn't forget ya! I know that when I was being really strict about eating every few hours and making sure it was soluble fiber, I had Kix twice a day and that's when I lost a few pounds! So... I say go for it. If you see the scale go up a pound that week, cut out the Kix. Just for the love of Pete do not start on the RKTs... they're deadly!
