Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried Stevia. I know we're not suppose to have artificial sweeteners. I bought this in the health food store, and it does say it has:

475 mg. of Frutafit Inulin Fiber
Stevia Leaf Extract 25 mg.

Heather, this diet is wonderful. It's helped me so much.

Hi Christine,

I've tried Stevia and it's ok to use, just use it sparingly as it is sweeter than sugar.

There's inulin in there, and just plain stevia would be better...

Inulin is a soluble fiber but it is very likely to cause bloating and gas (I think it's worse than psyllium). Just plain stevia would be fine - it's a plant, not an artificial sweetener, and should be perfectly okay for IBS. You should be able to get the plain stuff in the bulk herb/spice section of a health food store.

Thanks goodness! I have been using Stevia for quite sometime with no problem, but I bought a new brand. It has in Inulin. I have been EXTRA (like I swallowed a watermelon whole) bloated and gassy the last few days. I suppose that could be why. I was going nutty trying to firgure out what I did.
thanks

Thanks for posting the question!

stevia is a great substitute for sugar. my sister can't have sugar and she uses Stevia. It's excelllent to cook with and in your tea.

I love Stevia! I buy it in liquid form. The ingredient list: Purified water, pure Stevia Leaf extract, & grapefruit seed extract.
