A couple of unbiased articles on erythritol said it does not cause digestive track problems in low amounts. It made my colon feel irritated for at least 4 days;It does not produce a good baked good either. Not worth the pain, (I have a tendency for hypoglycemia and didn't want to use sugar). I re-tried another recipe that uses brown rice syrup, even though the baked good falls apart, but was at least moist; So, then I carefully cut and froze it in the same parchment lined pan cooked in, then removed the pan, put in zip bag and refroze. By the time I eat it after the meal, it's refrigerator cool

Hi - anything ending in "ol" is a sugar alcohol and very poorly digested - erythritol, sorbitol, mannitol, etc. They are often used as artificial sweeteners, and they will be bad news for IBS.

Unlike other sugar alcohol - erythritol is a 4 carbon sugar, very rapidly absorbed into the blood stream. It is not high FODMAP and considered safe
"Research indicates that only 10% of the erythritol ingested makes it to our large intestine, and unlike other polyols our gut bacteria do not rapidly ferment erythritol in our large intestines (1 3). This means erythritol is less like to trigger gut symptoms."
