how about soluble paracetamol?

now: stable through EFI+FODMAP dieting (no lactose/no fructose/some fructans and some polyols)

before: IBS-D(pseudo-diarrhoea), bloating, often unbearable pain esp from too much fat: Apr 2007- Dec 2010

[I've tried VSL#3 -> I could tolerate v good amounts of IF (even with less SF), it worked great (but overall I find it too expensive)]

Paracetamo is not available in North America. The equivalent here is acetaminophen which is the active ingredient in Tylenol and many generic pain relievers. It will only help with pain and not with stuffed sinuses.

for stuffed sinuses - surely nose drops?!

how on earth can that be IBS unfriendly..? it's not as if you swallow anything.

I've found that fore headaches and sore throats and just generally feeling under the weather due to a cold, paracematol works wonders.

Nasal decongestants like pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine are central nervous system (CNS) stimulants that can cause GI symptoms in some individuals. While the nasal version is not ingested it is still a CNS stimulant when absorbed which in turn can cause things like nausea. Each person has to figure out if it is or is not a problem for them

thanks. nausea I can understand, but digestion just seemed so unconnected with something that is not actually swallowed!

The nasal passages are rich with blood vessels covered with a thin nasal membrane. A decongestant is rapidly absorbed into the blood vessels reducing their swelling and in addition it is transported in the blood stream throughout the body possibly effecting other organs too.
