Is this recipe safe? Is 1/3 cup too much oil?

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
1 cup water

Cheers.

1.5 cup flour = 725 kcal
1 cup sugar = 775 kcal
1/3 cup oil = 2025 kcal

The rest of the ingredients add a small amount of calories

Total calories in the cake is 3525 kcal. Therefore the percentage of calories due to fat is (2025/3525 * 100) 57%. If there are 8 piece to the cake then you are getting 440 kcal in each piece.

If you have a very small piece such that the total amount of fat in the whole meal is less than 20-25% of total calories it would be okay.

i'd replace at least half of that oil with applesauce, or if your foodmappy mabye bannana, if the coco flavor is strong enough you'll never know the difference and it's fat percentage would be more in the safe zone

plus there is fat from the cocoa powder on top of all that.

v high in fat, you have to be careful with oil/fat, it's deceptive. one tablespoonful of oil has 120kcal!

[I've tried VSL#3 -> I could tolerate v good amounts of IF (even with less SF), it worked great (but overall I find it too expensive)]

I would say that this is ok. This is going to be in the whole cake. A little fat is good for you. I would make this with out worry I just made siome browines that called for this much oil. Dont eat the whole thing in one setting and youll be fine. hth
