I know I should have asked this before buying a pound of it from the co-op

I remembered my husband saying that he liked wild rice, and so when I saw it today I figured that it was a good idea to pick it up since it was loaded with the gunk that they put in the packages that you buy at your typical grocer.

Is it safe for IBS? I got to thinking that it really isnt a rice, it is a grass.

I guess if it isnt safe that I will be have plenty of wild rice for the kids and me

I don't know if wild rice in and of itself is safe, but what about mixing it with some white, brown, or basmati rice? Then you'd definitely have a nice SF base, even if it is IF.
