I'm curious, when going out to eat at a restaraunt which serves fresh seafood without fillers, would it be safe to have

Crabcake
Broiled soft shell crab
Seafood gumbo?

Thanks.

Crabcakes are usually fried, so not safe. Gumbo usually has lots of added fat, so probably not safe. Broiled soft shelled crab is probably ok.

You have to ask questions. Do the foods contain dairy (butter, for example). Are the crab cakes fried or broiled? Are the soft shell crabs fried, broiled, or boiled? Are there sauces and, if so, what do they contain and can you get the sauce on the side? Gumbo is almost always made with a roux which is basically flour fried in lots of oil so the odds are it's too high fat for you. You might be able to get just a little gumbo with a *lot* of white rice and do okay that way. Or ask for the gumbo and rice in separate bowls, eat a little of the gumbo with all the rice, and take the rest of the gumbo home.

The safest bet is to ask for broiled fish with no butter - see if they'll brush it with olive oil for you - with fresh lemon. Also boiled shrimp is safe.
