You know, the ones you purchase in a vending machine or something? Just wanted to know. The weird thing is about these chips, is that I feel horrible after eating them, but they eventually have a sort of 'laxative effect' on me. And I am IBS-C, so ..that's actually a good thing.

A small bag's okay with me, but just barely. Pringles tend to work better for me.

I know they're baked, but they still have a fat content, am I right? (I don't like them, so I don't eat 'em and don't know.) But I'm sure one bag is more than an ounce?

Figure out how many ounces is one serving, then compute the fat content for one serving, making sure it's no more than 20-25%, then you're good to go...

I've definitely, on more than one occassion, eaten a whole LARGE bag of these things at one sitting!

OK, embarassing admissions aside... the fat content on these are pretty safe to be eaten alone. I don't have a bag with me here but the internet tells me they're only about 13-14% fat, which is quite safe for most folks. For me the only (non-IBS-related, just general health-wise) drawback is that they're pretty high in sodium and have preservatives etc... But other than that they're a good safe option for me, especially when I'm out and find myself without food and the only option is a vending machine or corner store.

Not sure why they'd be giving you problems, but if they're making you "go", as a C, maybe eating them in small amounts might be a good idea? As long as they're not giving you D... that's a cycle you just don't want to get on.

HTH!

Make sure they are baked and not the Wow chips with olestra. Fat percentage is the important thing in our diets, so you could eat a handful of chips on an empty stomach or the whole bag and you would get the same fat percentage.

I like them a lot. I usually buy the large bags (more economical) - and I have to watch how much I eat of them. They can be addictive.

I think I will give it go. Especially since I haven't had a bowel movement in one week. I'm quite desperate. I've been doing very well with the diet, but now I have come to a critical point where I have to learn how to get things moving. I'm not entirely sure what to do. Yesterday I had some tuna, and blueberries for IF. Blueberries usually really help me ..but so far -nothing. Today I might have those chips and some sweet potato. Wish me luck. Any suggestions would also be helpful.

Tuna will not provide you with much IF. Neither will the baked lays or sweet potatoes. You might want to try adding some IF, rather than more SF, into your diet. Try some peas with pasta, or a smoothie with banana, strawberry, and blueberries, or some cooked zucchini in rice. Eating only Soluble Fiber foods can be constipating.

Yes, that's true. But I have been eating blueberries, and they I find it very strange that they are not really helping me.
I have peas. But I'm too cautious to eat them. I thought for sure they were a trigger.
I would not be able to try a smoothie, as I am not really on soy milk or anything yet. Every now and then I take sips of it to ease myself into it.
But I'm thinking about the zuchinni. I might make that recipe: 'Chocolate zuchinni bread.' Maybe that will help. Thanks.
Crew - how have you been doing? I remember you had your C under control, is your bloating under control as well?

I saw a commercial today that reminded me of this. Sears' 10% off sale, they say 'buy more, save more' but no matter how much you buy you only save 10% ever. The same with calories, fat and percentages. The more you eat of a food by itself it is still the same fat percentage.
I just wanted to give an illustration to explain this better.

Eh .. everything kind of went out of whack for me. I lost my father in November, so my stability with IBS kind of flew out the window. I probably won't be back to normal for a while due to all of the emotional stress. But, I'm still no where near as bad as I was in the beginning, so I am thankful for that. My bloating is ok ... i make it through the day with little to no bloating .. but for some reason, I always end up bloating up after about 6 or 7 pm.

You know, I found that part of what kept me stable was keeping a variety of foods in my diet. I think your body kind of gets used to a certain food when we stick with it for a while (blueberries ), so when we introduce something else into the mix, it makes the body feel like "oh hey, this is new. I like it" haha. And hey, although yes Peas are Insoluble Fiber, they are NOT a trigger. I actually handle them quite well .. you might think about trying them. Mix them up in mashed potatoes or pasta. And what about rice milk for a smoothie .. would that work for you?

I really do hope you feel better soon!
