Yup....that's right. Believe it or not...our building crew is supposed to be badk at work on my husband's shop today. Course with it being Friday and not being on site for over two months....we aren't sure how much will be accomplished today. They said they'd have to take inventory of supplies, etc. that needs to be replaced from the rain we have had since they quit working on it.

My gosh you are having quite a time with them? What the heck...why the H*ll are they starting on a FRIDAY.
Personally I would get rid of these contractors, refuse to pay them whatever you owe them and get new ones on site. Preferrably a new one which will go to bat for you when the old contractors get P.O.'d.
You guys are being way to understanding and gentle with these guys. Don't forget YOU are the customer!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email. My husband has been on site after a bad contractor was there and has had to go to bat for the customers sake.

The contractor doesn't know it yet, but we do not plan on paying all of what they think we owe them. We think the time, stress, etc., etc., should be worth something.

That's good! Just be prepared for things like liens and lawsuits to come from that. Be prepared with documentation as to why you are not paying.
I would have a lawyer on stand by because I am sure the contractor will not just say "OK that sounds more than fair" LOL.
