Hey guys,

So I was talking to a girl I work with the other day who recently lost between 20-30 lbs (she said she has stopped weighing herself) and one of the ways she did it was by having protein shakes as a snack. I am always looking for more healthy ways to snack, so I went to "Superstore" and bought the GeniSoy brand. I was going to buy chocolate, but the instructions said to mix it with "juice or your favourite beverage" and I thought, "Chocolate with juice?? I don't even drink juice..."
So I bought the vanilla.
Now I don't know what to do with it.
I got the idea to put cocoa powder and mix it with vanilla Silk soy milk, but that seems like a lot of soy...
Any ideas?
Can I crush up ice to make it more like a cold milkshake?
Any ideas to use the vanilla with fruit? I was thinking of trying to make some sort of "Creamsicle" ones with oranges, but dunno whether to use OJ or what...

Any tips would be appreciated!
(I also just realised I thought I was buying what Shell was using, but just looked through and saw she uses Egg white powder... ooops... I hope this one is still good...)

Have my first session for a full assessment with a personal trainer on Thursday night at 5:30, looking forward to that. Got my body comp done yesterday it was scaaaaaary. Then I had to sit and listen to a woman try to sell me everything under the sun and try to talk me into working out for pageants... But that's another story!

Cheers!

Steph

Hey guys,

So since I got no suggestions to my original post *AHEM*! the protein powder sat lonely and unused in my cupboard.
I finally took it out tonight, and tried my first recipe. I sorta (well, totally) copied an idea I saw from AmandaPanda.
I used:
Crushed Ice
1 scoop GeniSoy vanilla protein powder
Vanilla Silk Soy Milk (I dunno how much, I just kept adding a bit at a time)
1.5 Tbsp Organic Non-Dairy cocoa mix
2 tsp decaf instant coffee granuals, dissolved in some water

Tastes pretty okay. Adrian likes it, anyway.
Will try to experiment more with fruit...
Any ideas and I'd still be glad to hear them! (I am allergic to bananas, which is holding me up a bit)

Hey Steph-

Here's a fruit smoothie recipe I make a lot:

1 container of whatever form of 'yogurt' you can tolerate
handful of frozen strawberries and one handful black berries
4-6 oz rice milk, soy milk (whatever you can tolerate)
1 scoop of vanilla powder
1t honey
3-4 ice cubes
acacia powder

Optionals: (Don't know if you can handle or not)
1t peanut butter
1t flax meal

Blend together. Makes two decent-sized smoothies.

This recipe is very 'loose' and amounts may not be too accurate. You can experiement with any fruit. My DH loves these in the summer and they totally kill my ice cream cravings. These are also very filling. I think they come out to about 300 cals or so.
