Heather lists it under soluble fiber. The nutritional data at NorthWestern University shows an average butternut squash has about 0.7 grams of soluble and 1.0 grams of insoluble fiber. Generally speaking squash and zucchini have a bit more insoluble fiber than soluble fiber. I can eat a small amount but if I eat too much the insoluble fiber causes problems.

Well cooked squash can be treated as SF. There are some strings in winter squash so prepare it well. I think butternut has less than acorn. I don't eat a lot of squash because I prefer sweet potatoes.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
