I just got a prescription for Buscopan (I posted last week that it was Levsin, but it turns out it's not available here). My doctor prescribed 10 mg twice daily, but didn't specify when to take it. Is it best between meals, 30 mins before a meal, with meals?? I would ask my doctor but she is apparently AWOL and I want to start taking it NOW!

You can always ask your pharmacist.

..and he said it didn't matter when I took it. But he also seemed on the whole not too familiar with the drug, so I thought someone here might have a better clue.

I used to take it years ago. I don't quite remember but I think I took it anytime. Personally I prefer taking medications either with or after meals.

Hiya,
I take Buscopan, my doctor said to take it 6 hourly so I take 1 three times a day, but you can take up to two tablets 4 times a day, hope that helps.

I have been taking buscopan for about seven years. I have IBS-D. I find that I take it during flare ups and when I have bad menstrual cramps. It does help. I take it in the morning (2). In the afternoon (2) and in the evening (2). It does make you a bit drowsy, not too bad though. I don't take it with food neccessarily. BUT, my pharmacist (who is awesome) did mention that it tends to work faster (within 1/2 hour) on an empty stomach. I hope this helps.
