against my better judgement, today, i had to cave at my weakness and take some laxatives just to make it thru the night. so far from funny, i feel like im dying--and like ive been dying for the past few weeks. maybe longer still, just recently the pain has gotten so severe. i suffered the craziest most painful gas-attack i can remember in a long time no less then 4 days ago. it was awful and since then my GI tract has been closed for business but that doesnt mean that that pesky gas hasnt taken off yet! or that its ridden me of the stress as to who will know I'M the one with the gas i go day in and day out with this same exact fear. suddenly stability seems the furthest from me. the laxatives i bought [dulcolax] were an awful choice and a shun myself for even thinking to buy them only, i know that they will work, for tonight. maybe tomorrow ill buy some safe ones assuming i have $17 to spend/waste on all-natural safe laxatives [sarcasim] this is so frustrating as well as a whole other list of different adjectives but my heart is just not in the right place to broaden my horizon with a colorful vocab. im losing my strength and each day, the desire to stablize lessons. not b/c i dont want to, but its becoming too hard when life keeps getting in the way. im so uncomfortable and so out of whack. and alas i dont know what to do.

Ashley, Let's hope that it is just a bump in the road. This
past summer before I went on Paxil, there were many many days
when I woke up feeling that I was going to die, and sometimes
so bad that I wanted to, and this past November I almost did.
However, faith, grit, determination, and especially spiritual
support from the board members after my stroke helped me get
through it. Hang in there, have faith, and remember we're
all with you. You'll make it too!
Also,if you use the dulcolax, once it kicks in, don't
wander too far from a bathroom because, it will generally
make you go every fifteen minutes to a half hour until
you're pooped out. You needent spend money on safe
laxatives, I'll bring you some Miralax on friday. I have a
ton of it. You might want to ask your GI doc about getting
some. It comes in handy. Looking foward to meeting you
friday. -Bob

Hey Ashley,

Sorry to hear about your bump in the road.

I'm sure you already know this, but be super careful with the laxatives. You don't want your body to become addicted to them. That being said, I also know how frusterating C can be and sometimes laxatives seem like the only cure.

At this point, I'd revert back to the Breaking the Cycle diet. Because your body has been giving you so much trouble, this will give it a chance to calm down so that you can get back on track.

Grab a cozy blanket, some peppermint tea, and a heated water bottle to help you until the effects of the laxatives wear off. Hope you start feeling better soon.

Sorry, Ashley. I can't offer much help tonight. I'm not doing so hot either. I'm so tired of hurting. I just want it to all go away...or let me go away.

The only laxitive I take is Miralax. I go a hundred times a day with it but I don't get the cramps that I get with others. The last time I took an ex-lax I was passed out on my bathroom floor for 20 minutes. Since I started with the Digestive advantage I haven't had to take the Milarax. Thanks goodness and anlikerm aka Michelle.

i hate resorting to these awful "drugs" if you can even call them that. i peeked at the inactive ingredients just for kicks at how horribly i was treating myself by forcing to take these, and--well no wonder those things give us massive D!!! preservatives, artifical colors, garbage is put into those things and not to mention, one surprising little thing acacia! doesnt mean im gonna be a frequent buyer tho. im doing better today in terms of cramps from the D. but im really dissatisfied w/myself for taking those.

thanks jen, i hate to take laxatives for the reason of addiction--b/c i did become addicted for a while and for far too long. but nonetheless--it was a "quick-fix" for the night.

its funny you mention the BTC diet b/c i did go back to that! its so nice how its so plain that i wish i could just stay on it for more then a few days.

if the cramps and pain do return, ill grab that blanket, tea and water bottle. those all create such a cozy feeling. ive actually been drinking *only* peppermint tea since tues with the exception of clementine-chamomile. thanks~

new name?? i actually have a prescription for miralax and ive tried it with little success. it doesnt make me "go" the way regular laxatives [dulcolax] do. not saying that i often use regular laxatives of course! in 2003 i had an addiction to dulcolax's and kicked it after 6 months. however that is always the one i found relief with so when the major horrible cant-live-with-yourself-a-minute-longer C rolls around, i usually try to bear with it praying i wont feel weak enough to venture to jewel and pick up a small box.

my journies from the bathroom were not far. sometimes i would hardly walk out of the bathroom before id head right back in again--but thats gross. i try to have as much faith as i can but sometimes i feel like a very small 1 up against a thousand--maybe a million during the really stressful times. but i always try to have faith that i will get out of this alive. thanks for your words bob--they were very touching. looking forward to meeting you too tomorrow. no word yet about beth rsvping. i emailed her last night. see yah

ive tried the miralax too but didnt find it very helpful to me. i kind of felt like an empty tube of toothpaste, if you know what i mean! you are a C then i take it? what's digestive advantage?? i know ive heard of it and considered it b/c it seemed like a really nice approach to treating C and other problems. have you ever tried psyllium? i currently take that--along with the acacia. neither i notice provide me with any type of expected BM. more often i just have them b/c eventually i have to. let me know what digestive advantage you are taking and how it helps. i would love to find some new options instead of what im stuck on thanks carol!

Hi Ashley, You're very welcome! Oh,the new name, I'm trying
out Salara's(Fomerly Ruchie) idea. I figure what the heck,
why not. I'm glad I just saw your post, this way I don't
have to carry around a couple of ounces of white powder in
a plastic baggy in my pocket. Thanks very much for emailing
Beth. I tried calling her last night after I got in, but no
luck. Looking foward to see you later today! -Bob
